Neck-and-neck race at arts festival

North Paravur, Aluva educational sub-districts lead; dance events highlight of second day

North Paravur and Aluva educational sub-districts were engaged in a keen battle for the top position on the second day of the Ernakulam Revenue District School Arts Festival held at various venues in North Paravur near here on Wednesday.

North Paravur was leading with 329 points in the general category followed closely by Aluva (318 points) when the results of over 85 events were declared by 9 p.m. Ernakulam was in the third position with 300 points.

In the upper primary section (general), North Paravur was leading with 73 points followed by Perumbavur (61) and Ernakulam (55) educational sub-districts at second and third positions.

Ernakulam educational sub-district was leading the point tally in the high school section (general) with 127 points followed by Aluva (122) and Kolencherry (110). In the higher secondary section, North Paravur was on top with 146 points, followed closely by Aluva (143). Ernakulam was in the third position with 118 points followed by Perumbavur (104).

Aluva was leading in the upper primary section of the Sanskrit arts fest with 46 points. Perumbavur and Angamaly had 45 points each. In the high school section, Perumbavur and Angamaly scored 40 points each. North Paravur came third with 38 points.

Vypin was leading the point tally in the upper primary section of the Arabic fest with 55 points. Aluva was in the second place (53) followed by Perumbavur and North Paravur (51 points each).

Aluva, Perumbavur and North Paravur had 61 points each in the high school section of the Arabic fest. Vypin came second with 53 points followed by Angamaly (52).

Dance events were the highlight of the day. Competitions were held for Kuchipudi, group dance and Mohiniyattom in various categories.
