A meeting of the district administration, chaired by District Collector M. Beena, finalised the steps to be taken to face the monsoon-related calamities.
Round-the-clock control rooms will soon be opened at all taluk offices. Dr. Beena instructed the Departments concerned to submit daily reports to the district collectorate on the damage caused by the monsoon and the action taken on it by 12 noon. A contingency fund of Rs.1.84 crore has been made available to face monsoon-related calamities. In the event of damages to houses, the tahsildars concerned should immediately provide relief assistance.
Tahsildars and the Education Deputy Director should in advance inspect the facilities at the centres, where relief camps will be set up. The District Supply Officer should take steps for the distribution of free ration.

The Fisheries Deputy Director has been instructed to put in place a mechanism to monitor the coastal regions susceptible to monsoon-related calamities.
The Deputy Director informed the meeting that boats had been kept ready for relief operations.
Local Self-Government bodies have been asked to intensify the cleanliness drive. The Collector asked the District Medical Officer to organise awareness classes against the outburst of epidemics and to ensure adequate stock of medicines.

The Agriculture Department will make time-bound assessment of damage suffered to farm sector. The Collector said that in the previous years the Animal Husbandry Department had not assessed the damage suffered by the sector. She asked the Department to rectify it this time round.
Dr. Beena asked the tahsildars to collect adequate funds from the collectorate if relief assistance for the previous years was still pending.
The Kerala State Electricity Board, the Kerala Water Authority and the Public Works Department were duty bound to extend assistance to meet monsoon-related calamities at any time.
The Coast Guard and the Navy also promised all assistance to the district administration.
Additional District Magistrate K.N. Raji and district level officials of various departments attended the meeting.
