Forest officer held for misbehaving with woman

KOCHI: A 46-year-old Forest Officer, attached to the Athirapilli forest station, was arrested on Friday for allegedly attempting to molest a tribal woman. The accused is Thajudeen, a native of Mundakal village, Vendermukku, Kollam.

According to the police, the incident happened on December 8 last. “Thajudeen was working as a Section Forest Officer, and the victim was a sweeper at his office. He tried to molest the woman when she came to the office in the morning to clean it up,” the police said.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, Thajudeen tried to flirt with her and even invited her to his living quarters. “Based on her complaint, a case was lodged with the Ayyampuzha police station, and the accused was taken into custody from his house in Kollam,” the police added.

Youth arrested

A youth was arrested on Friday for allegedly attempting to molest a plus-two student at North Paravur a week ago.

The accused is Anoop, 26, a native of Kaithram, North Paravur. The incident occurred on January 4 when the girl was going to school on her cycle. The accused allegedly followed her on his bike and attempted to molest her at a deserted stretch. He escaped when she shouted for help.

The student narrated the incident to her teacher who in turn informed her parents. They lodged a complaint with the North Paravur Police. The police arrested the accused from a hideout on a tip-off. He was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
