The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Ernakulam Bench, on Tuesday adjourned to June 24 the hearing on an application filed by former State Police Chief (SPC) T.P. Senkumar challenging the action of the State government in removing him from the post.
When the application came up for hearing, Advocate General C.P. Sudhakara Prasad sought a month’s time to file an affidavit in response to the petition.
Mr. Senkumar contended in his application that he had been removed under Section 97 (2) (e) of the Kerala Police Act 2011. The section empowered the State government to take action if there was serious dissatisfaction among general public with the efficiency of the police.

He pointed out that there had been no incident in which the general public had complained about the efficiency of the police.
