Buses collide, passengers escape with minor injuries

About 30 passengers suffered minor injuries including bruises and cuts when two Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses collided head-on at Kumbalanghi Vazhi near Palluruthy in the early hours of Saturday.

The accident took place around 3.20 a.m. when an Express bus bound for Palakkad from Thiruvananthapuram and a Super Fast bus bound for Thiruvananthapuram from Coimbatore collided head-on. Most of the passengers who were sleeping at the time were thrown around in the impact of the collision.

One passenger lost a few teeth and another had a fractured nose while others suffered minor injuries, Mattancherry traffic police said. Many of the injured who were taken to a hospital at Karuvelippady and have since then been discharged, police said.
