Around a thousand people pledged to donate their eyes during a two-day workshop on eye diseases and eye donation held at the Oberon Mall to mark the World Sight Day on October 11.
The workshop was organised by Little Flower Hospital in Angamaly. Managing director of the mall Asif Mohammed handed over the consent forms of his employees and customers, pledging to donate eyes, to Dr. Siju Cheeran of the hospital.
The workshop had a platform to clear doubts on eye diseases and eye donation along with video presentations and awareness classes on blinding diseases like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, corneal blindness and computer vision syndrome.
