A thousand ayes for eye donation

Medical Trust Hospital will be organising a free eye check-up and treatment camp from Monday to Saturday

Oberon Mall managing director Asif Mohammed hands over the consent forms of his employees and customers, pledging to donate eyes, to Dr. Siju Cheeran of the Little Flower Hospital.

Around a thousand people pledged to donate their eyes during a two-day workshop on eye diseases and eye donation held at the Oberon Mall to mark the World Sight Day on October 11.

The workshop was organised by Little Flower Hospital in Angamaly. Managing director of the mall Asif Mohammed handed over the consent forms of his employees and customers, pledging to donate eyes, to Dr. Siju Cheeran of the hospital.

The workshop had a platform to clear doubts on eye diseases and eye donation along with video presentations and awareness classes on blinding diseases like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, corneal blindness and computer vision syndrome.

Five counters were set up at the Oberon Mall to create awareness on eye donation. Medical Trust Hospital will be organising a free eye check-up and treatment camp from Monday to Saturday. The camp will be held at the hospital from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Contact 0484-2358035 to register.
