600 petitions taken up at mass contact programme

‘Pariharam 2017’ held in Kunnathunadu taluk

KOCHI: More than 600 complaints were taken up at the taluk-level mass contact programme, ‘Pariharam 2017’, held in Kunnathunadu taluk on Thursday.

As many as 158 complaints were resolved, while the remaining were forwarded to the departments concerned. While 221 complaints were received online, another 379 were received through the 11 counters set up at the NSS auditorium at Perumbavoor.

Inaugurating the programme, District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla said taluk-level initiatives helped address people’s grievances effectively.

The complaints were taken up by a team of officials led by Mr. Safirulla. This was the second mass contact programme held as part of the complaint redress campaign taken up at the instance of the Chief Minister. The maiden event was held in Paravur taluk on April 27.

Most petitions taken up during the programme pertained to land, housing, title deeds, and interest waiver on loans. Of the 600 petitions, 267 were on land. Petitions related to social justice, cooperation, local bodies, and the Survey Department were also considered.

Meanwhile, the Collector sought to explore the possibility of including petitions related to housing under Project LIFE (Livelihood Inclusion Financial Empowerment). Village officers concerned were asked to submit inquiry reports on petitions pertaining to title deeds.

Separate counters were opened at the place to help people submit online applications seeking assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). Twenty-two such applications were received, while 42 persons registered for Aadhaar.

The programme was held after disposing of pending files. Two file adalats were held in the district, disposing of over 3,000 files ahead of the launch of the programme. More than 1,500 petitions related to survey and title deeds were considered at the adalats. Action was also taken on applications received till March for aid from the CMRF.

Additional District Magistrate M.P. Jose presided. Muvattupuzha Revenue Divisional Officer M.G. Ramachandran, Deputy Collector K.K. Sidharthan, and various district-level department heads attended the event.
