An engineering graduate ended his life “for Telangana” by hanging himself to a tree near the Law College on Osmania University campus on Saturday.

The body of 22-year-old Bandaru Srinivas was found hanging to the tree in the early hours with two notes purportedly written by him, the OU police told The Hindu . “I am dying for Telangana. At least after my death, let Telangana state be created,” he stated in one note.

He completed his B. Tech. degree from Guru Nanak Engineering College. Before the news of the youth’s death spread in the campus, police shifted the body to Gandhi hospital mortuary. The OU campus has witnessed violent protests for the past three days by pro-Telangana students.

Following the incident, security has been stepped up around the campus.
