Woman sets husband afire in Malkajgiri

The realtor returned home in an intoxicated condition

A woman killed her husband by pouring kerosene and set him afire at their house at Maruthinagar in Malkajgiri on Saturday night.

She fled the spot after committing the murder.

Police said real-estate businessman N. Raghu (45) returned home in an intoxicated condition and picked up a quarrel with his wife Pushpa over a trivial issue. Though she tried to pacify Raghu, he did not relent.

Angered over her husband's attitude, Pushpa poured kerosene on him, while he was asleep and set him ablaze.

Raghu, who suffered 90 per cent burns, was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, according to police. Police said Pushpa committed the crime after sending her children to a grocery store for purchasing essential commodities.

Police said family dispute could be the main reason for the incident.

Man found murdered

In a separate incident, a 32-year-old painter Pavan Kumar was found murdered near a toddy compound in Rajendranagar on Sunday.

Assailants killed the victim by smashing his head with a boulder.

Pavan Kumar left the house on Saturday afternoon stating that he was going to meet his friends to discuss about the business plans and failed to return home till late in the night. His body was found near the toddy compound on Sunday morning.
