A housewife set ablaze her 18-month-old-daughter before setting herself ablaze over some family issues at Mailardevpally on Saturday.
While the child died, the woman is battling for life at Osmania General Hospital.
Navnita (22) was married to a labourer G. Kumar, from Balapur three years ago. However, for the last few months she was staying at her parent’s house in Laxmiguda of Mailardevpally.

Her father Yelliah, a few months ago took one three tolas gold chain belonging to Navnita and mortgaged it with some persons for Rs. 10,000.
Her husband Kumar sent Navnita to her parent’s house to get back the gold chain, the police said.
“The family members of the woman told us that though Yelliah returned the chain to Navnita a week ago, her husband and in-laws were not allowing her into their house.

The woman slipped into depression over the development,” Inspector Mailarvepally, S.N. Jaweed said.
The woman doused herself and the child with kerosene and set ablaze.
On hearing her cries, the neighbours rushed to their house and put off the flames.
Later, the mother and child were shifted to the Osmania General Hospital for treatment where the child was declared brought dead by the doctors.
