She was accompanied by a group of women constables in civilian clothes, say eye witness

The photograph of a woman Circle Inspector in civilian clothes, posing as a protester at the Dharna Chowk, created ripples among political and activist circles on Monday, when the location witnessed violent clashes between agitators for and against the Dharna Chowk as protest location.

CI Sridevi, reportedly from the Lake police station, Tank Bund, was seen holding a placard that read, ‘Please allow us to reach hospital on time; Please save our health’, in Telugu. It meant that the agitations at the Dharna Chowk resulted in traffic chaos which did not allow patients to reach hospitals on time.

Eye witnesses vouch that she was accompanied by a group of women constables in civilian clothes, all from Warangal. She was sitting along with the protesters against Dharna Chowk as protest location, which had angered those agitating to reclaim it. CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, CPI(M) State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram and others who addressed a press conference later in the evening, circulated her photo, and alleged that it was a ploy by the government to defame the ‘Save Dharna Chowk’ agitation.
