Woman arrested for killing husband

: The city police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the mystery behind the killing of 41-year-old man, M. Susheel Chakravarthy, reported at Gandhinagar last month after arresting five persons including his wife. The police seized Rs. 20,000 cash, a motorcycle and tools used for murdering the man from the accused.

The arrested were identified as Marishetty Jayaraja Kusuma Kumari (40), Lanka Naresh Kumar (26), an engineering graduate, V. Balraj (24) a private employee, Poosala Raju (22) and Shaik Ghouse (30) labourers from Mallapur.

Explaining the motive behind the killing, DCP (Central) V.B. Kamalasan Reddy said the victim’s wife Kusuma Kumari, was staying separately at Moula Ali along with her two sons after developing some differences with her husband. The woman wanted to grab the property held by Chakravarthy and took the assistance of her acquaintance Naresh Kumar. “Naresh hired three persons and the woman paid them Rs. 2 lakh for the job. The four persons went to the house of Chakravarthy and killed him,” Mr. Reddy said.

The police examined the footage recorded by the surveillance cameras installed in the area and nabbed them.
