A welding shop owner B. Shekhar, who stepped out of his house after dinner on Wednesday night, was found murdered at Meerpet on Thursday morning.

His friend Bobby, with whom he was reportedly seen moving late on Wednesday night, was suspected of the crime, police said. Suspicions of Bobby’s complicity in the murder gained strength as he was not found at his house and could not be reached on his mobile phone.

Bobby is an autorickshaw driver. Shekhar reportedly moved closely with Bobby’s sister earlier. She eventually got married.

“The two friends never had any differences on that matter, but Shekhar’s family members feel that the issue in any way could be connected to the murder,” Meerpet Inspector T. Ravinder said.

Shekhar is the youngest of four sons of Satyanarayana. The four brothers work in the welding shop. Shekhar went out on receiving a call around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Two hours later, he spoke to his wife and father over the mobile phone.

As he didn’t return home in the night, his family members inquired with friends and relatives in the morning. On being told that he was last seen with Bobby, they went to the latter’s house only to find it locked.

Some time later, they were told that Shekhar’s body was lying at an open place in Survey No. 165 of Sarvodayanagar Colony near Zillelaguda Government High School.

He was attacked with knives and had injuries on his chest, back and throat. His head was also hit with a boulder.
