Chairman of the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation, Pervaram Ramulu on Wednesday said they will develop 100 centres across the State to showcase tourism potential of the youngest State of India.
Ace tennis star Sania Mirza flagged off two catamaran yachts costing Rs. 22 lakh, imported from the United States of America, and introduced at the Hussainsagar, amid a flotilla of seven boats, in the presence of the Managing Director of corporation Christina Z. Chongthu and Mr. Ramulu.
He said that similar facilities would be developed at 100 locations across the State. “We are determined to turn the spotlight on a culture that has been sought to be stubbed out for the past six decades and will leave no stone unturned to revive it,” he stated. To begin with, they would offer such services at Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal, he announced.

“Whether it is Akka Mahadevi or Jetprole or Somasila in Mahbubnagar or conservation of forest wealth, we are trying to make more destinations accessible to people. The State Government is on an out-of-the-box mode when it comes to visualising and developing the tourism potential. Whether it is eco-tourism in Mahbubnagar, Adilabad, Warangal or Khammam or protection of the centuries-old culture of Gonds, Koyas and Madhura Lambadis, we are going all out,” Mr. Ramulu said.
Ms. Sania Mirza said that being a globe-trotting tennis player, she was left with very little time to savour the delights that Telangana had to offer. “In April, I will have time to come back to my native State and go around,” she said. Fielding questions, she said she would try to see that her doubles partner Martina Hingis, who plays for Hyderabad too, came here and spent time going around Telangana. “Her favourite food is the famous Hyderabadi biryani,” Sania pointed out.
