‘Water supply is the main issue in SCB’

Published - August 02, 2018 12:35 am IST - HYDERABAD

Steep water tariff and erratic supply once in four days, bad roads, overflowing sewerage, danger of inundation due to the Picket nala and several other civic issues were brought to the notice of city BJP chief and MLC N. Ramachandra Rao during his maiden people connect programme in the Secunderabad Cantonment on Wednesday morning.

Accompanied by fellow partymen, Mr. Rao began his constituency tour by visiting Rasoolpura and from there, he moved towards Margadharshi colony, Tadbund colony, Panchavati colony, Lal Bazar and nearby areas where he interacted with slum dwellers and residents of various colony welfare associations.

He explained various programmes of the NDA Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Most complaints were about the water supply as the Cantt. Board buys water from the Water Board and about irregular supply. People elected TRS ward members believing the promise of improving basic amenities, but it has not happened,” said the BJP leader.

At some places, the slum dwellers claimed that the assurance of regularising their tenements have been adhered to. A single two-bedroom housing project has been taken up in the area and the progress has been slow, he said. The BJP leader said he would fund drilling of a borewell from his official fund in the area. The next programme will be in Jubilee Hills constituency later this week, he added.
