The discharge flood from the spillway of Srisailam Reservoir continued for the second day on Sunday as the heavy inflows kept reaching the project both from Tungabhadra and Krishna rivers.
Supplementation of water going on to Nagarjunasagar both from the spillway and power houses at Srisailam has helped improvement of the water level in the former beyond 540 ft and the storage went past 190.6 tmc ft.
According to the officials monitoring flood in the State, the discharge of flood through eight crest gates of Srisailam went on past noon on Sunday and two gates were closed around 1 p.m. and one more at 6 p.m.

The water being let out from the spillway was about 1.34 lakh cusecs through 5 crest gates opened for 10 ft height each at 8 p.m. and the release through the two power houses was another 75,000 cusecs for Nagarjunasagar and the inflows were around 2.78 lakh cusecs.
The Central Water Commission (CWC) has forecast steady inflows of around 1.3 lakh cusecs into Almatti, Narayanpur and Jurala projects, while the flood to Tungabhadra would be on the decline from around 1 lakh cusecs.
Meanwhile, the improvement of water level in Sriramsagar was curtailed with the decline of inflows to just over 12,500 cusecs on Sunday evening with the storage standing at 33.13 tmc ft against the capacity of 90.31 tmc ft. However, Singur, Nizamasagar, Mid Manair and Lower Manair reservoirs continue to have very poor storage due to lack of inflows.
