Warangal gears up for Bathukamma festivities

District administration i making elaborate arrangements for the Bathukamma festival.

Deputy Chief Minister T Rajaiah and District Collector G Kishan went round the city inspecting the Batukamma immersion sites. The grand finale would be held at the Ranga Samudram on the outskirts of Hanamonda. On October 2, Bathukamma immersion would take place at various places in Kazipet, Hanamkonda and Warangal. The officials were asked to coordinate and make it a success. The Collector wanted R&B officials to erect barricades at tanks where the immersion takes place, NPDCL to arrange lighting, Health Department to set up temporary clinics and make available the ambulance. The police authorities were asked to depute more women personnel and keep a vigil for chain snatchers and miscreants. “The Padmakshi tank is one place where lakhs of women come in procession to immerse Bathukamma. Similarly, we should identify other locations in all three cities and accordingly make arrangements,” the Collector told the officials of various government agencies. On October 3, at Rangaleela Maidan on the outskirts of Hanamonda, the Ravanasura Vadha would be held on grand scale. A huge paper made idol of Ravana packed with firecrackers would be erected. After the public meeting the idol would be lit. The municipal corporation officials were asked to ensure the surroundings of tanks were clean as women come there to immerse Bathukamma and also spruce up the Ranga Leela maidan.
