Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao has on Tuesday expressed concern, saying the Minorities were cowering in fear with communal forces fomenting trouble across the country and that there is a need for the Congress to hit back.

“Why is Prime Minister Narendra Modi not controlling such forces? If he wants a ban on beef, so be it and let him get a Bill passed in Parliament,” he demanded, at a press conference here.

As for the situation in the State, he said Government land and places like the Bathukammakunta, a lake that falls in Amberpet, and a constituency that he nurtures, is being occupied by land sharks.

“Will we get justice and the lake back? In the absence of water in what was once a sprawling lake, women folk are forced to float Bathukammas in buckets and tins of water,” the Congress leader regretted.
