Vaiko to lay siege to Chittoor collectorate

April 09, 2015 03:58 pm | Updated April 02, 2016 03:17 pm IST - TIRUPATI:

With the Seshachalam incident having already created rift between Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, tension is likely in store in Chittoor district with the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Vaiko aka V. Gopalaswamy announcing to lay siege to the Chittoor collectorate on Friday.

Terming it a ‘pre-planned and state-sponsored killing’ of innocent coolies, Mr. Vaiko insisted that the policemen did not observe restraint, but resorted to indiscriminate firing. He also expressed sympathy for the large number of coolies languishing in Tirupati, Chittoor and Kadapa jails without getting bail for more than a year.

“The workers blindly believed the fake assurance of the agent that he had secured permission to chop the trees and hence they were not at fault”, he said in a release, wondering why the task force members never encountered the bigwigs.

The party has given a call to its cadres to join the procession to be taken out by road from Vellore city by 10 a.m. to reach Chittoor Collectorate, located just 30 km away across the border.
