Uppal ‘Mini Shilparamam’ open to public

New attraction: The ‘Mini Shilparamam’ crafts and arts village at Uppal in Hyderabad. .

A ‘Mini Shilparamam’, along the lines of the bigger and more renowned crafts village at Madhapur, was launched on the eastern side of the city, at Uppal, here on Saturday.

The crafts village, featuring various stalls resembling rural atmosphere, an amphitheatre, food courts, children’s play areas, high mast lights, water fall, landscaping, and different kinds of artefacts, has been developed by HMDA in association with Shilparamam authorities, a press release informed.

The HMDA has handed over 7.5 acres of land adjacent to the Musi river to the Special Officer, Shilparamam, along with ₹5 crore in two instalments, for this purpose, the note said.

A total of 50 stalls are available for allotment to the registered original handloom and handicrafts artisans on rotation basis, it said.

There will be a variety of programmes in the amphitheatre representing Indian culture, on every Saturday and Sunday and on public holidays. The village will be open for visitors between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on week days, and between 11 a.m. and 8.30 p.m. on weekends.

Entry ticket is priced at ₹20 for an adult and ₹10 for a child below 12 years of age. Parking will be charged separately, the note said.
