Weekend party proved fatal for two software engineers, after the car in which they were travelling rammed into a tree at Pragathinagar under the Kukatpally Housing Board (KPHB) Colony police station limits early on Saturday.
The two techies – Sudeepto (25) and Uttiya Mukherjee (23), both hailing from West Bengal, partied at their friend Basu’s house at Bachupally till Friday midnight.
Around 2.30 a.m., Sudeepto and Mukherjee along with their two friends Neeladri Gosh and Gourav Maithi were coming towards KPHB Colony to buy cigarettes, when Sudeepto, who was driving the metallic green car, apparently lost control over steering and crashed into a tree on the left side of the road, said KPHB Sub-Inspector Tejavath Srisailam Naik.

Death was instant for Sudeepto and Mukherjee, Mr. Naik said.
The duo was trapped in the front seats as the left side of the bonnet was completely damaged.
“Initially, we tried to retrieve the bodies manually but in vain. We then took the assistance of the staff working on Metro Rail pillars and pulled the bodies out, using gas cutters. It took almost an hour to retrieve bodies from the car,” explained Mr. Naik.

He said the techies’ friends Gosh and Maithi escaped with injuries. Police admitted them in a nearby private hospital where their condition is stable.
“We came to know about the accident when Gosh called up Basu and informed about the incident. Basu then alerted us,” Mr. Naik said. Both Sudeepto and Mukherjee working in an IT firm in Hitec City were staying in separate flats in the same apartment at Kondapur.
The victims were working in the city for the past four years.
“We have already informed the families of Sudeepto and Mukherjee. Their bodies will be handed over to the family members after an autopsy at the Gandhi hospital mortuary,” Mr. Naik added.
Held for circulating fake notes
Cyberabad police on Saturday arrested a person for allegedly possessing fake currency notes worth over Rs. 2.35 lakh.
The police said Amarjit Kumar of Fatehnagar had been into petty business locally. He met his friend Ajay hailing from his native village in Bihar a week ago. Ajay handed over 235 counterfeit currency notes of Rs.1,000 denomination to Kumar promising him to give commission. The police caught Kumar while trying to circulate the notes at Bharatnagar crossroads near Sanathnagar.
