September 19, 2014 01:18 am | Updated April 20, 2016 05:38 am IST - NALGONDA:

Two units at the power house on the left bank canal of Nagarjunasagar reservoir were submerged as the three- storied building was flooded with water due to a technical problem, resulting in disruption of 60 MW generation.

A senior Genco official said that the water entered the units but receded in the evening. While one unit was on annual overhaul, the other one would be restored next week.

According to sources, the rubber washers of the pumping units came off due to water pressure, resulting in the flooding of the power house.

Sources added that Genco officials failed to replace the washers in time, resulting in the inundation.

The Genco SE, Umamaheshwar Rao, said that they were looking into the matter.
