Rachana Reddy, Marri Adithya Reddy and others accuse TJS leadership of “selling tickets”

Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), a partner of the Congress-led People’s Front or ‘Maha Kootami’, has suffered a setback with two of its leaders – vice-president Bollu Rachana Reddy, Marri Adithya Reddy and others – quitting the party accusing its leadership of “selling party tickets like vegetables as part of its match-fixing with Congress”.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Ms. Rachana Reddy said that TJS had “absolutely defrauded the people of Telangana” leaving its cadre and all those who believed in its ideology nowhere. She sought to know how B-Forms were issued by more than one alliance partner at several places and how parachute candidates were given tickets.

Stating that people of Telangana were cautious and careful and they were watching everything silently, the advocate-turned-politician said “I am sorry to say that this ‘kutami’ is definitely not an alternative to form the government right now” and appealed to people to “think and vote”. She questioned the TJS leadership as to what it had done during the last four years except blaming the government.

Land issues

“They have been talking about issues in land acquisition, projects, unemployment and others but did not go to the people. It was we (advocates) who helped people facing problems with land acquisition and got the exercise stalled. They have taken the credit for it, although doing nothing”, Ms. Rachana Reddy said.

She cautioned TJS chief M. Kodandaram that he was losing the cause for which he had been fighting for and nobody would even take his calls in case the party fails to win a few seats.

“Many in TJS can’t speak as the media will not listen to them even if they speak. That’s why we are speaking on behalf of all such party leaders. Some transactions have taken place between TJS and Congress and we will bring out those shady dealings soon,” she stated.

Mr. Adithya Reddy, who is contesting as an independent after being denied Tandur ticket, sought to know why Mr. Kodandaram had asked for 40 seats in his talks with Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah and why he had not stood ground for 30 seats in the alliance as planned.
