The police on Tuesday managed to nab two persons allegedly involved in attacking the doctors at Gandhi Hospital which triggered a flash strike on Monday. The strike continued for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. Two other persons, who were suspected to be involved in the incident, were absconding. Meanwhile, health authorities on Tuesday urged protesting doctors to call-off their strike.
“The police have assured us that the remaining two persons too will be arrested at the earliest. We have also accepted the demands of the doctors to set up CCTV cameras at emergency areas in teaching hospitals.
For SPF protection, there is a need to hold talks with Home Ministry and a decision to this effect is expected to be taken by State Government on Wednesday,” said Director of Medical Education, Telangana, Dr. Putta Srinivas.

Meanwhile, doctors at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) and Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) in Warangal have also decided to join the protest by boycotting electives from Wednesday.
“On the occasion of Doctor’s Day, we were hoping for a positive signal in the form of assurance from Deputy CM, Dr. T. Rajaiah. We will continue to protest till Government gives us assurance,” TGDA, Gandhi unit president, Dr. P. Sravan Kumar said.
