Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) on Monday sought to allay “misconceptions” about the recently announced results for the Group-II examination, affirming that it had ensured that “no candidate is put to a loss due to the misguidance or confusion in the centres at the time of examination”.
In an official statement, Commission secretary Vani Prasad said only corrections made in the biodata part of the OMR by duly cross verifying with other parallel records such as nominal rolls, absentees statement etc., for establishing the identity of the candidate was considered.
Any corrections/ erasures made in the central part of OMR sheet, where the responses of the candidates to the questions are given are not considered for valuation. Hence, this does not influence the merit of any candidate, she claimed. The decision was taken based on the recommendations of a technical committee.

The committee was formed to due to “certain confusion” that prevailed in certain examination centres regarding matching of OMR and Question Booklet as some candidates had made certain corrections while filling up/bubbling in OMR. Candidates had represented to TSPC to examine and consider their cases.
About 7.89 lakh candidates had applied for the Group-II examination and 5.17 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam in 1916 centres with 20,000 personnel supervising. While candidates will be called in the ratio of 1:2 for interviews, as per the notification, they are being called in the ratio 1:3 for certificate verification as there are chances of some of them not fulfilling the criteria laid.
For 1,032 posts in Gr-II services, 3,147 candidates are being called for certificate verification instead of 3096. For physical disability categories, candidates are called in the ratio of 1:5 as there was a likelihood of more rejections, hence 3147, said Ms. Prasad.

Merit list/cut off marks of the candidates are never declared before finalization of the selections and it can be provided after publication of the final list of selected candidates, she added.
Congress seeks probe
Earlier, the Congress charged large scale irregularities in the conduct of the Group-II examination and accused the TPPSC of allowing “mass copying” in various centres.
The decision to count marks for students who had used whitener for corrections and high pass percentage of students of Nizamabad gave scope for shady developments behind the results, alleged official spokesperson K. Mahesh at a press conference.
He demanded the results be withheld and the interview process be halted and called for a full fledged probe is ordered into the entire conduct of examination.
