TS to unveil industrial policy on June 7

The much awaited and talked about industrial policy of Telangana will be unveiled on June 7.

A prominent feature of the new industrial policy will be the conditional allotment of land, wherein the land cannot be used/transferred for anything other than the intended purpose. The decision to formally launch the policy on that date was taken by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday at a meeting held to give final touches to the policy.

The policy will be launched in the presence of industrialists, entrepreneurs, representatives of industry and commerce bodies and leaders of multinational companies. The Chief Minister had a meeting with principal secretaries of all departments in which Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Advisor to State Government on Industries B.V. Papa Rao also participated.

According to officials, the Chief Minister has expressed satisfaction over the exercise done in formulating the new policy and the final shape it has taken now. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said the issue of evolving a new policy was discussed with a large of people concerned from day one of the formation of the Telangana government. Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao explained that the primary objective of the new policy would be to ensure clearances of applications within a fortnight for setting up new industries in the State. The government will take responsibility to provide land, water and electricity required for the industries, he noted.

The Chief Minister stated that the government had already handed over 1.6 lakh acres to Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) and the industries would be allotted land by the agency. The government will also take the responsibility of developing land in control of TSIIC as industrial estates by creating basic infrastructure.

There will be no shortage of water to the industrial sector since the government has already taken a decision to allot 10 per cent of water in every irrigation project to industries, the Chief Minister explained.

The industries will be provided water with the pipelines being laid under Water Grid project and the State had a clear vision on overcoming the power shortage in the next few years. There were no power cuts this year and about 7,000 MW additional power would become available to the State by next March. The State will become power surplus by March 2017 and all sectors will get round-the-clock power then, he stated.
