Telangana Government has reiterated its commitment to resolve the impasse over the dependent employment scheme introduced in the public sector mining company Singareni Collieries Company Limited.
The SCCL had issued a circular in December last enabling its employees covered by the National Coal Wage Agreement (NCWA) to retire from services of the company in consideration of employment to male dependants as Badli workers who work underground.
The scheme of providing employment on compassionate grounds was, however, set aside by the High Court which claimed that it was in violation of Articles 14 and 16 of the Constitution.

Replying to queries on the issue, State Government advisor on inter-State affairs G. Vivekanand said the scheme was intended to benefit the employees in the mining sector and the Government was committed to find an amicable solution to it.
Legal advice was sought on the High Court’s judgement and the Government was contemplating to approach the Supreme Court to provide for implementation of the special scheme.
“We are hopeful of getting a positive response from the Apex court,” he said. Mr. Vivek welcomed the completion of the railway line between Peddapalli-Nizamabad and said the project could be completed because of the initiative taken by Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha. The then Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao laid the foundation stone for the project in 1994 after being convinced by senior Congress leader and former MP G. Venkataswamy.
