Training programme for village secretaries, sarpanches soon

Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj and IT K.T. Rama Rao has said that the government would soon organise training programme for sarpanches and village secretaries for proper implementation of welfare and development schemes.

Speaking to village secretaries after releasing their diary and hand guide here on Saturday, he said the government would not hesitate to act tough against all those who misuses funds meant for different schemes. He saw a key role for village secretaries in the implementation of poverty alleviation programmes, restoration of minor irrigation tanks and welfare schemes such as social security pensions. The Minister stated that the government had already taken a decision to give joint cheque power to village secretaries along with sarpanches and it would not go back on it. The decision was taken to devolve both powers and responsibilities to village secretaries, he noted. He assured that the government would positively examine the problems of village secretaries and try to resolve them.
