For Central and State government officials, International Yoga Day on Sunday, could prove too far a stretch, literally.

Though excited, officials are unsure how they will perform before the general public, their bosses and the Ministers, given that many officials have very limited yoga experience. That some of them will be caught on camera while performing asanas, is not a comforting thought.

“The programmes are expected to attract a large number of people. We have been asked to come dressed for workout. It remains to seen how well we perform before others,” an official of Secunderabad Cantonment Board said. Others associated with the SCB said the municipal body planned for training sessions before Sunday’s session, but could not conduct them.

The SCB is conducting its yoga session at Raja Rajeshwari Gardens in Sikh Village at 6 a.m. This will be followed by a rally from the gardens to Centre Point Hotel and back, to create awareness about yoga’s health benefits.

Meanwhile, the youth welfare officials in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts are conducting programmes at various venues. The government programmes is being held at Boat Club, Saroornagar Stadium and in Satya Sai Community Hall, Anand Bagh. Meanwhile, programmes for the public and staff are being held at Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and for the staff at Apollo Hospital Jubilee Hills. Six yoga workshops are being organised at Inorbit Mall, 9 a.m. onwards.
