Three Class X students killed in Uppal road accident

Three tenth standard students travelling on a bike were killed when a lorry hit them at Uppal bus-stop the previous night, the police said on Friday.

The students were studying in Sree Chaitanya Residential School at Medipally on city outskirts. They were reportedly returning to Uppal after attending special study classes on Thursday night.

“Thursday was the birthday of a student Omkar. We’re told he and two of his classmates Bhagtwant Reddy and Hari Krishna started on a bike late in the night,” the Uppal Inspector Laxmikantha Reddy said.

The accident occurred at Uppal bus-stop around 11 p.m. According to the Inspector, the students zoomed past the lorry. As they overtook the truck, they tried stop while trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian walking. The bike skid, they fell down and ran over by the truck.

“They came under the rear wheels. Death was instant for Omkar,” the Inspector said. Bhagwanth Reddy died on the way to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences while Hari Krishna succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Matrix hospital.

Their bodies were shifted to Gandhi hospital for conducting autopsy.
