The Hindu is organising a symposium on the topic ‘Reporting terror: How sensitive is the media?’ at Salar Jung Museum here on April 7.

The symposium, to commence at 10 a.m., is being organised in the backdrop of the debate on whether the media was responsible enough in its reportage of bomb blasts in various parts of the country and, closer home, at Dilsukhnagar.

Though media should be a partner in the war against terror, it is often blamed for being least sensitive towards concerns of communities some of whose members are suspected to have masterminded the violence.

Press Council of India Chairman Markandeya Katju would be the chief speaker along with distinguished panel comprising NALSAR University Vice-Chancellor Faizan Mustafa, Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, civil liberties leader Prof. G. Haragopal and Editor of
