The massive explosion at Dilsukhnagar literally shattered the dreams of a youngster who was to be married after Ugadi. Giri died in the blast. In another case, Swathi, who was to be married shortly, suffered an incalculable personal loss after her father V. Ramulu, who works in GHMC, died in the blast.
The twin blasts ripped through the dreams of the two families that were busy preparing for the weddings.
Ramulu (56) hailed from Warasiguda, and his daughter’s engagement took place just a week ago.

After discussing the marriage plans with his relative at Boduppal, Ramulu came to Dilsukhnagar by bus and was waiting to board another bus to go home when the blast snuffed out his life. His body was blown into pieces. Incidentally, he was promoted to Superintendent in GHMC’s Urban Community Development Wing recently.
In the other incident, Giri (21) was busy finalising his wedding plans when the blast took his life. The young man worked at a tiffin centre near Konark theatre.
“We decided to conduct his marriage well. We saved money for the occasion, but this has shattered us now,” said a wailing Yadamma, Giri’s mother.

Their family came to the city a few years ago and were staying at P&T Colony in Dilsukhnagar. Giri’s father Shankaraiah works as a security guard, and his elder brother Swamy is a car driver. His younger brother Anjaiah is an intermediate student. Giri’s loss will hit the family hard as he was main earning member.
Ranga Reddy Deputy Collector K. Chandra Reddy said that an ex-gratia of Rs. 5,000 was being paid to the bereaved family members to meet the funeral expenses. The government was also providing transport expenses for shifting bodies from the mortuary.
