A tailor was murdered allegedly by a group of persons at Doodhbowli in Hussainialam over a property dispute on Wednesday night.

The victim, M. Santosh Kumar (58), proprietor of Sumangal Tailors at Begum Bazaar and resident of Doodhbowli, was returning home from his shop on his two-wheeler when the miscreants attacked him near a temple at Kamatipura.

“The assailants waylaid him and repeatedly stabbed him with sharp edged weapons resulting in his death instantly,” Hussainialam Inspector A. Balaji said. Police inquiries revealed that Santosh was at loggerheads with Sumanth, a businessman, over a piece of land and a house measuring over 190 square yards at Darjigalli in Doodhbowli for the last 15 years.

He also filed a case in the civil court which gave a judgement in favour of Santosh a few days ago.

“We suspect Sumanth and his family members might have killed Santosh to avoid handing over the property to him,” Mr. Balaji said. The police registered a murder case under Section 302of IPC and launched a hunt to nab the accused. Police sources said that at least seven persons, including a woman were involved in the murder.
