Swine flu diagnosed

Shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment

A woman from Garla mandal in neighbouring Mahabubabad district was reportedly diagnosed with swine flu at a hospital here on Tuesday night prompting the authorities to initiate prevention measures.

Sources said that a 38-year-old woman from Garla mandal was admitted to a private hospital in the town with high fever and symptoms of swine flu on Monday. A day later, the diagnosis was confirmed and she was referred to the State-run Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for specialised treatment on Tuesday night.

The Hindu that no case of swine flu has been reported in the district so far. A woman patient from the neighbouring district was referred to Gandhi Hospital from a local hospital here on Tuesday after she exhibited symptoms of swine flu.

As a precautionary measure, a special ward is being set up in the District Headquarters Hospital to treat swine flu patients, she said.
