Surprise checks on petrol filling stations

Civil Supplies department, along with Legal Metrology and oil company representatives is conducting surprise checks on each and every petrol filling station in the State, to arrest frauds.

Inspection teams have been formed with an official each from the three wings, which are conducting the checks to preclude fraud through electronic chips. The teams will function under the Joint Collectors in the districts.

Commissioner of Civil Supplies C.V.Anand, on whose directions the raids were being conducted, said that the Centre has asked all the State governments to check each and every petrol bunk, after delivery malpractices through electronic chips were caught in Uttar Pradesh.

During the last two days, raids were conducted on 130 petrol bunks, and cases were booked in Sangareddy, Peddapalli, Mancherial, Medchal and Kothagudem.

Information pertaining to the malpractices in Hyderabad was not forthcoming from the officials, though massive raids were carried out throughout the day on Wednesday.
