Quirky weather caught commuters off guard on Monday evening as sudden sharp showers lashed many parts of the city.

Begumpet weather observatory recorded 17.1 mm rainfall till 8.30 p.m.

The sudden showers were a result of a weather phenomenon called ‘echoes’ where clouds build up locally due to the effects of temperature variations, Met officials said.

The effect will continue during Tuesday and many parts of the city will receive spells of rain or thunder shower, the officials said.

Maximum temperate recorded on Monday was 28 degree Celsius and minimum temperature was 22.6 degree Celsius.
