Students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), who have been in the news from almost two months, plan to meet President Pranab Mukherjee and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and to talk about the ongoing issues that have taken place on the campus recently, said JNU Students Union (JNUSU) vice-president Shehla Rashid Shora here on Sunday.
Speaking to this reporter on the sidelines of a press conference here at Lamakaan, Ms. Shora said: He is a constitutional authority, and the Home Minister of the entire country. We have already asked for a meeting with him, but we have not heard anything from him so far.
Mr. Shora alleged that a ‘very rabid’ campaign has been organised by the RSS against her and other students of the varsity. Ms. Shora, who was in Hyderabad along with a few other students from JNU, was not allowed from holding a public meeting at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU).

“We were supposed to conduct a programme there, but the administration disallowed it. The same thing that happened in JNU has also taken place there,” she stated, while addressing a press conference.
The students were also not given permission to conduct a meeting in the Maulana Azad National Urdu University on Sunday.Fielding questions from the media about the events that took place in JNU on the night of February 9, Ms. Shora said that there was a difference of opinion between people concerning the hanging of Afzal Guru. “Ambedkarites are against the death penalty, be it for those who killed Rajiv Gandhi or anyone else,” she added.
