Indefinite strike threat is looming large in the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) with all the national trade unions deciding to go on strike from April 17 onwards tentatively demanding the Government for the revival of the promised dependent employment scheme for the children of coal miners.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during the electioneering had announced the revival of dependent employment scheme in the Singareni collieries. Accordingly, the SCCL management had announced the revival of the scheme on health grounds a few months ago and started collecting application forms.
However, the recruitment process stalled by the Hyderabad High Court following an unemployed youth filing a case.

In order to corner the recognised trade union of Singareni - Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TGBKS) affiliated to the ruling TRS, the national trade unions -AITUC, INTUC, CITU, HMS and BMS have decided to go on indefinite strike with single and sentimental demand of revival of dependent employment scheme to the coal miners’ children. The trade union leaders have decided to serve strike notice to Singareni CMD N. Sridhar in Hyderabad on March 31. They alleged that the State Government’s claim of approaching Supreme Court was only delaying tactics on providing employment to the wards of miners.
AITUC working president Y. Gattaiah said that the national trade unions had decided to go on indefinite strike from April 17 tentatively if the management fails to fulfil the promise. “Ours is single point agenda. We demand the Government to fulfil its promise without any delay”, he maintained.
He said that the Singareni management should reissue fresh circular for taking up recruitment process by making tripartite agreement with the recognised trade union, State Government and the management.
