Stalker nabbed

Use of mobile phone for a brief period helped Hyderabad Police track down a 32-year-old stalker in a remote forest area of Kerala. The man attacked a female nurse with acid last week.

On May 11, Jisha Shaji, a 23-year-old nurse at a private hospital, was on her way to work in Jubilee Hills when A. Pramod, the accused accosted her. He wanted Shaji to accept his marriage proposal.

After a brief conversation, when the woman rejected his proposal, Pramod pulled out a bottle of acid and threw it on the victim, causing burns on her back and shoulders.

The victim identified her attacker and police launched efforts to nab him, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar told the media on Tuesday.

A team of Banjara Hills Police was dispatched to Kerala as both accused and the victim hail from that state.

The search efforts yielded a break when the police was able to track down Pramod’s location after he briefly turned his phone on. However, he was not present at the location. But one of the many people who the police obtained information led them onto the accused, who He was finally nabbed from a reserve forest area in the remote village of Attipadi, about 80 km from Kerala.

Pramod was booked under sections 326 of IPC and was arrested late on Monday.
