Though girls kept their winning streak, boys are not far behind in the SSC public examination results declared here on Saturday. Among the regular candidates, girls secured 83.51 pass percentage as against 82.71 by boys. Among the private candidates, the pass percentage of girls was 10.19 higher than boys.
Incidentally, this year there was the highest pass percentage of 83.10 as against 81.63 last year. A total of 12,87,211 candidates appeared for the SSC examinations held in March of which 8,72,339 passed.
Karimnagar emerged as the highest scoring district with 91.57 pass percentage, while Hyderabad had the dubious distinction of securing the lowest percentage of 72.76.

A total of 2,562 schools secured cent per cent pass percentage, 129 more schools than the previous year. Private schools topped the list of cent per cent pass percentage numbering 1,856. Only 88 government schools achieved 100 per cent results.
The number of schools scoring zero per cent were 10, two less than the previous year. Among them eight were private; Zilla Parishad and government schools, one each.
Minister for Secondary Education K. Pardhasarathy, who released the result, wanted the government and welfare schools to better their performance on a par with the corporate schools.

For the first time, the SSC Board introduced absolute grading system this year on the lines of CBSE. Action will be initiated against institutions which advertise ranks. Similarly, action will be taken against teachers who commit mistakes in valuation of answer scripts, the Minister said.
In all, there are nine grades with different range of marks. The physically challenged candidates are awarded grades in their own group.
Names of candidates' mothers are also being mentioned in the SSC pass certificates from this year onwards.
Also, information on date of birth is being given in memorandum of marks of failed or “E” grade students.
Earlier, this information was given only in case of pass students.
Pronoti Suhasini Kavoori, director, Government Examinations, said the spot valuation was completed in a record 25 days this year. Commissioner, School Education, R. Satyanarayana, said the Board introduced OMR and bar coding this year to rule out malpractices.
