The inflows into Jurala and Srisailam dams are increasing steadily and recorded at over 2.5 lakh cusecs into the latter at 9 p.m. on Sunday with heavy flood continuing into Almatti, Tungabhadra and Ujjani dams in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Sources in the irrigation department stated that the spillway gates of Srisailam dam could be lifted again on Monday as the water storage in the reservoir crossed 202 tmc ft against its capacity of 215.81 tmc ft and the level was approaching 883 feet against full reservoir level of 885 ft at 9 p.m. In Nagarjunasagar, the inflows were about 61,000 cusecs at 8 p.m. on Sunday and the storage was nearly 306 tmc ft against the capacity of 312 tmc ft.
The water level was recorded at over 587 ft against the FRL of 590 ft. As the water level in Pulichintala reservoir too has attained its full capacity, surplus water was being released into sea through Prakasam barrage, even after release of water to irrigation canals.

Heavy rainfall
According to the forecast issued by Central Water Commission (CWC), extremely heavy rainfall was recorded during 24-hour period till Sunday morning along in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, the major catchment area of Krishna and some its tributaries.

Quoting the weather department, the CWC forecast indicated that there were chances of extremely heavy rainfall till Monday morning followed by heavy rainfall for one more day in the area.
Accordingly, outflow from Almatti was over 2 lakh cusecs on Sunday evening with the trend of further rise in the inflows and the discharge of flood from Narayanpur was over 2.53 lakh cusecs with the help of flood supplemented from Malaprabha.
Besides, Jurala was also getting supplementation of flood from Bhima river with the discharge of flood from Ujjani and Vir dams in Maharashtra.
Jurala inflows
The inflows into Jurala were about 1.73 lakh cusecs and discharge of flood into rivers was about 1.67 lakh cusecs on Sunday evening.
The CWC has indicated that inflows into Jurala would be in the range of about 2.25 lakh cusecs by Monday morning.
Discharge of flood from Tungabhadra towards Srisailam was about 1.12 lakh cusecs.
Accordingly, Srisailam is expected to get nearly 3 lakh cusecs of flood from Monday night or Tuesday.
At Bhadrachalam, water level in the Godavari river crossed 48-meter mark on Sunday night with the trend of further increase as Pranahitha, Indravathi and other tributaries are in spate.
Sriramsagar reservoir in the upstream was however getting only about 8,000 cusecs of inflows.
