Amusment park enthusiasts in the City can now have a simulated space flying experience as Wonderla Holidays Limited launched a new ride - mission interstellar - here on Monday.
The ride which has a laser projector and 3,500 sq ft parabolic screen will simulate the weightless, no-gravity experience at 40 ft from the ground. The ride which was inaugurated on Monday is housed on the 50-acre campus of Wonderla, located near Outer Ring Road, Exit No -13.
According to Arun. K. Chittilappilly, managing director of Wonderla the ride is the first of its kind in the country. People who take the ride will be lifted 40 ft up through the height of an eight-storied building. Each rider’s vision while taking the ride is filled with images projected using a high-tech laser projector. Also, the ride is synched with the movement in the film which will give an experience of shooting through space. The top of the building where the ride operates has a 23-meter dome, built to project and simulate the space view.

Ride was built with an investment of ₹40 crore. Mr. Arun at the launch said, “We committed ourselves to building this ride in Hyderabad as we expect people from nearby States too to come to partake in this experience”. The ride functions in 6,500 sq ft air conditioned area and is built with the support of experts from the US and Europe theme parks.
The Wonderla-Hyderabad was inaugurated in April 2016. Other Wonderla amusement parks are located in Bangalore and Kochi. The company plans to make Hyderabad an important amusement location that brings in tourists from north Indian cities too.
The Wonderla-Hyderabad’s location close to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport too is a factor which brings in traction, the company head said.
