Telangana social and tribal welfare residential students have excelled in the IIT-JEE, the results of which were announced on Monday. As many as 179 social and 135 tribal welfare students have qualified in the Main exam.

Among those qualified this year are sons and daughters of daily-wage earners, agricultural labourers, masons, vegetable vendors and persons belonging to particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs).

“It is an outstanding achievement in itself that several students from PVTGs qualified in the exam despite their backwardness,” said Secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar.
