Singareni urges SCR to allocate more rakes

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) shas made a request to the South Central Railway (SCR) to augment supply of railway rakes from the current 23 per day to evacuate the daily coal production up to 1.80 lakh tonnes and accumulated stock of 1.50 million tonnes spread across the SCCL’s operational areas.

A formal request to this effect was made by SCCL CMD N. Sridhar to SCR’s General Manager P.K. Srivastava at a meeting in Rail Nilayam here on Thursday. Mr. Sridhar was accompanied by SCCL’s Executive Director (Coal Movement) B. Nagya.

Also, the coal producer said an increased number of rakes was needed for regular, seamless movement of coal to the thermal power stations, pointing out that it was critical for power production.

An SCR press release said the meeting also saw discussions on various issues pertaining to railway projects, including the approval of the Detailed Project Report for rail connectivity to the super thermal power plant at Jaipur in Adilabad district and railway line between Bethampudi and Koyagudem.

Mr. Sridhar wanted early completion of the Asifabad siding for faster coal movement from Bellampalli, apart from expediting works on new lines between Bhadrachalam Road and Sathupalli and Uppal to Bhupalapalli to boost coal movement.
