Shoba first woman to head Forest force

R.Shoba on Wednesday became the first woman IFS officer in the State to head the Forest Force when she assumed the charge as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF). She succeeds P.K. Jha as PCCF .

She has been given full additional charge as PCCF (HOFF), and as Chief Wildlife Warden.

The process for identification of new PCCF could not be taken forward, with Centre not appointing anyone to the committee which has to take a decision on that. Government has issued orders on Wednesday, appointing Ms.Shoba for the post.

Ms. Shoba, who began her career in the Forest Department as Assistant Conservator of Forests in 1988, climbed up the ladder to assume the position as PCCF (Forest Conservation Act), in May this year. She has been instrumental in getting forest clearances for the Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project.

Minister A.Indrakaran Reddy and Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi congratulated Ms.Shoba, and appreciated the services of Mr.Jha at a farewell meeting organised in honour of the outgoing PCCF.
