The process of shifting various government offices presently located in the more than three-decade-old building of the Command Area Development Authority (CADA) has gained pace.
The site in which the CADA building is situated has been earmarked for setting up of the proposed Information Technology Tower, official sources said. The Nagarjunasagar Project (NSP) Tekulapalli Circle office, including the office of the Executive Engineer (Operations and Maintenance), have already been relocated to the quarters at NSP Camp Colony.
The move has been initiated to facilitate the demolition of the old CADA building, popularly referred to as ‘Jala Soudha’, to make way for setting up of the proposed IT Tower on a sprawling little over two acre land in the prime locality abutting the two-town police station.

The IT tower will be constructed under the aegis of the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) here. It may be mentioned that IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao mooted setting up of an IT tower in Khammam during his visit to the town in November last year. The move is aimed at tapping the vast pool of young techies, sizeable number of entrepreneurs and NRIs from the district to open up new employment avenues for engineering graduates and others in the district.
Several small and medium IT enterprises have reportedly evinced keen interest in to setting up outsourcing units and start IT-enabled back office operations in the town, sources added. The government offices in the CADA building have begun began to move outof the old structure, said Srilatha, Tahsildar, Khammam Urban.

The NSP circle office and the District Employment Office have already vacated the building. The remaining offices, including the Bala Velugu Project Office, are likely to be shifted to some alternative places in a few days. The building demolition of the old CADA building will begin once it is completely vacated.
