An 80-year-old woman, Sunderamma, was found murdered in her house in Shivaji Nagar of Borabanda here on Tuesday evening. The Sanathnagar police suspected robbery to be the motive behind the murder as jewellery and some cash were missingfrom the victim’s body and the house.
According to Inspector K Chandra Shekar Reddy, the offence took place between noon and 2 p.m. and came to light in the evening. The victim, Sunderamma, lived alone in the house, while her children were staying in different areas.
“Her body was found in a pool of blood with a head injury. We suspect the assailant bludgeoned her head with a pestle,” Mr. Reddy said, adding that a case was registered and they were analysing the video footage of surveillance cameras in the area to nab the accused.

In another case, Shamirpet police of Cyberabad arrested a 43-year-old grocer who allegedly stabbed a man he suspected to be having an affair with his wife in Lalgadi Malakpet on Tuesday night.
Jhangir alias Jangaiah along with his 16-year-old son and co-brother Mallesh hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Mahesh, a plumber, police said. “On Tuesday at around 8.30 p.m. the trio went to Mahesh’s house, picked up an argument and stabbed him with a kitchen knife,” inspector S Santosham said. Mahesh was rushed to Gandhi Hospital.

The LB Nagar police are investigating a chain-snatching case after two unidentified bike-borne miscreants snatched a three-tola chain from a beautician.
Inspector V Ashok Reddy said the offence took place when Swarna Kasagani (25) was on her way back home from Maguva Beauty Parlour. She is a resident of Indraprasath Colony in Nagole.
