SCCL to set up two 50 MW solar power plants

They are to come up in Ramagundam, Mandamarri areas

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has decided to enter the renewable/green energy sector by setting up two solar power generation plants with 50 MW capacity each in Ramagundam and Mandamarri areas and also to explore the possibilities of other areas where solar power generation is feasible.

Chairman and Managing Director of the coal company N. Sridhar took the decision at a meeting held with the officials of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), which is also into solar power generation, and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), and attended by the officials of SCCL.

The meeting discussed the feasibility of setting up solar power generation plants, investment required, returns expected and others with the officials of Electrical and Mechanical wing of SCCL headed by Director S. Shankar explaining the areas short-listed for setting up the solar power plants. After an in-depth discussion, the chairman decided to go ahead with the plans and to prepare necessary reports for the purpose.

Thermal plant PLF

Meanwhile, the CMD of SCCL and other officials of the company reviewed the performance of the company's thermal power station at Jaipur in Mancherial district and complimented the project for achieving 98.36% plant load factor in August with record energy generation of 849.89 million units.

Officials of the 2x600 MW power plant explained that 800.38 MU of the total generation during August was supplied to the grid. The first unit had achieved 99.22% PLF and the second unit clocked 97.5% PLF. The power plant had so far generated 8,022 MU energy and supplying 7,481 MU out of it to the grid.
