Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana on Tuesday said his department would issue a notification calling for fresh tenders from suppliers for high security number plates (HSNP).
He was responding to a question from presspersons here on the notice of contempt of court received by the Chief Secretary and the Transport Commissioner from the Supreme Court. The notice, it is said, was issued because the State did not send a status report or a communication detailing the progress on manufacture and affixing of HSNPs.
The Minister said that the tender notifications would be issued soon, especially in the wake of the notice issued by the Apex Court. It was likely to be released in two or three days.

The AP State Road Transport Corporation, which was nominated by the government as the nodal agency, had called for four separate tenders for manufacture of plates, sourcing of equipment, supply of consumables, retro-reflective tapes and the fourth for supply of the manpower required. However, the tenders were cancelled after some manufacturers moved the Supreme Court, questioning the process. Officials though expressed surprise at the contempt notice received on Tuesday, saying they had sent a communication to the Court about 10 days ago, explaining the progress.
