Travellers have the option of customising their tour based on their budget, says Nikhil Thakurdas, Director of CruiseBay.

Cruise vacations are gaining popularity in the country as the market is growing around 15 per cent every year.

Around 75,000 passengers sailed out on cruises from the country last year and 50 per cent of them travelled to South-East Asia, informed Mr. Thakurdas at a press conference here on Monday.

“Most people have false notion about cruises that it would induce sea sickness or that it is expensive. But it's not so. These cruises are luxury hotels that float and are equipped with different entertainment sources,” said Thakurdas.

Cost

Generally, cruise vacations are operated connecting different destinations.

The cost of cruise includes food, accommodation, on-board activities, entertainment and transportation from port to port.

This apart, cruise vacation is economical as average cost per night on board could be Rs. 4,500, he explained.

Once, travellers book a cruise, they will be taken to the nearest overseas port in a flight and from there they would set on the selected tour.

Established in 2008, the company operates in five cities in the country and has already sent over 500 passengers on different cruise holidays, he claimed.
